Job Description 

JMS Construction, a reputed commercial and residential construction company in Grande Prairie, is looking for an experienced Drywall installer and finisher. The incumbent will be responsible for installing and finishing drywall sheets for commercial projects. 

Requirements 

Ability to read, write and speak in English at conversation level is a must 

Education and Experience: 

• No degree or diploma required 
• Minimum of 3 years experience in drywall installation and finishing is required
• Number of positions available: 1 

Start date: as soon as possible

Salary: $30/hour 

Hours per week: 40-44 hours 

Responsibilities: 

• Measuring, cutting, and fitting drywall sheets for installation on walls and ceilings. 
• Positioning and securing drywall sheets to metal and wooden studs or joists based on layout specifications. 
• Cutting and installing metal corner beads to protect and reinforce exterior corners. 
• Filling joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound using trowels and broad knives. 
• Applying tape over joints and embedding it in compound, followed by smoothing and sanding seams for a seamless finish. 
• Applying successive coats of compound and performing detailed surface finishing to achieve smooth textures. 
• Fabricating and installing suspended metal ceiling grids and panels for acoustical and coffered ceilings.
• Repairing and refinishing damaged drywall surfaces to restore walls and ceilings to original condition. 
• Preparing drywall surfaces for painting and finishing by applying primer and ensuring uniform smoothness. 
• Operating and maintaining power tools, hand tools, and other equipment used in drywall installation and finishing. 
• Ensuring work areas are clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.
